The water comes from below here, not the roof. Drainage off the finger streets near Riviera Dr NE exits through the canals, and once the bay's up the storm system has nowhere to push. Streets hold. Then it walks into a slab ranch poured in 1962. Helene put bay water across Weedon Island and the bayfront; we spent weeks in these houses.
Same build as Shore Acres: slab-on-grade, low sills, tired seawalls. We work it the same way — pull wet baseboard and lower drywall, meter the slab, dry the cavity. Burst supply lines under 60-year-old kitchens keep us busy too.

Water reached my garage but no further. Does that need work?
Usually, yes. Street flooding is category 3 water — it picks up whatever's in the road and canal — so the slab and lower drywall need cleaning, not just a fan.
Is bay water handled differently than a burst pipe?
Yes. Salt and silt mean more material comes out, and drying runs longer — chlorides hold moisture in the framing. A clean pipe break often dries in place.
